Who are you?

Who are you?

In the Bible, "who you are" depends on your relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ, defining you as God's masterpiece, beloved child, new creation, chosen and holy, fearfully and wonderfully made in His image, and part of the Body of Christ, with a divine purpose and eternal hope, rather than defined by worldly things. Key aspects include being known and loved by God, forgiven, and given a new identity in Him.

Core Biblical Identities

Made in God's Image: You are created in the likeness of God (Genesis 1:27).
Fearfully & Wonderfully Made: God intricately fashioned you (Psalm 139:13-14).
God's Workmanship/Masterpiece: You are God's handiwork, created for good works (Ephesians 2:10).
Child of God: Through faith in Jesus, you are adopted into God's family (John 1:12, Ephesians 1:5).
A New Creation: In Christ, your old self passes away, and you become new (2 Corinthians 5:17).
Chosen & Holy: You are set apart, loved, and accepted by God (Colossians 3:12).
Part of the Body of Christ: You are an individual member of Christ's body (1 Corinthians 12:27).

God's View of You

Fully Known & Loved: God knows your heart and loves you eternally (Psalm 139, 1 John 4:16).
Called & Redeemed: He has called you by name and redeemed you (Isaiah 43:1).
Given a Future: He has plans for good and to give you hope (Jeremiah 29:11).
No Longer Condemned: You are free from condemnation (Romans 8:1).

Your Identity in Christ

Not Your Past: Your identity isn't your mistakes, job, or personality, but your spiritual reality in Christ.
A New Name: Those who accept Jesus receive a new name.
Jesus' Friend: You are called a friend of Jesus (John 15:15).

“Don’t just listen to the Word of Truth and not respond to it, for that is the essence of self-deception. So always let his Word become like poetry written and fulfilled by your life!”
