Not Guilty.

Not Guilty.

The Bible speaks of being declared "not guilty" through faith in Jesus Christ, where God acquits believers because Jesus paid the penalty for sin, making them righteous in His eyes (Romans 3:22-24, Romans 8:33). Key verses emphasize that through Christ's sacrifice, believers are cleansed, forgiven, and free from condemnation, allowing them to approach God without guilt (Hebrews 10:22).
Key Biblical Concepts & Verses:
  • Justification by Faith: God declares people righteous (not guilty) not by their own works, but by their faith in Jesus.
    • Romans 3:22-24: "...God shows his righteousness. ...through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. ...they are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus".
  • Redemption & Forgiveness: Jesus' death and resurrection pay the debt for sin, removing guilt.
    • Ephesians 1:7: "In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace".
  • Freedom from Condemnation: Believers are declared innocent and free from accusation.
    • Romans 8:33: "Who shall bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who is to condemn?" (similar concept in TPT version: "God himself is the judge who has issued his final verdict over them—'Not guilty!'").
    • Hebrews 10:22: "Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water".
In essence, the "not guilty" verdict in the Bible comes from God's grace, received through trusting Jesus, who takes the punishment for sin and credits His own righteousness to the believer, removing the grounds for condemnation.
