HE will…

HE will…

God's will generally refers to the divine purpose, plan, or desire for creation and humanity, acting as the ultimate, unstoppable force directing all things. It is commonly divided into the sovereign will (God’s unstoppable, hidden master plan) and the moral/prescriptive will (His revealed commands for human behavior in scripture). Doing God’s will involves trusting in Him, pursuing sanctification, and loving others.

Key Aspects of God's Will
  • Sovereign Will (Decree): The overarching, unchangeable plan that ordains everything that comes to pass. It cannot be thwarted by human action or evil.
  • Moral Will (Command): What God instructs humans to do, such as living ethically, repenting, and believing in Christ. This will can be resisted by humans.
  • Permissive Will: Instances where God allows sinful or evil actions to occur, yet still uses them for His ultimate, sovereign purposes.
  • Personal Will: Specific, unique plans for an individual’s life, which are revealed over time rather than all at once.
What Happens When We Do God's Will
  • Purpose and Sanctification: Following God’s will brings individuals into alignment with His purpose for their lives. It specifically calls believers to sanctification, which includes abstaining from immorality.
  • Closeness to Christ: Jesus identified those who do the will of God as his spiritual family.
  • Eternal Perspective: Doing God's will involves a shift from worldly patterns to a renewed mind. It includes actions like giving thanks in all circumstances, praying, and rejoicing.
  • Guidance: While not always clear in advance, God's will is revealed through Scripture, wisdom, and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Understanding God's Will in Action
  • Not Always Easy: Walking in God’s will can involve suffering or challenges, as seen in the life of Paul, but it leads to a life of faith and purpose.
  • Foundation of Love: God's will is rooted in love, and it is not meant to be a hidden secret but a guide for living. [Terms of Service]
  • Focus on the Present: While many look for a future blueprint, God's will often centers on obedience in the present. [Terms of Service]

“Yes, God is more than ready to overwhelm you with every form of grace, so that you will have more than enough of everything —every moment and in every way. He will make you overflow with abundance in every good thing you do.”
